Privacy Hedge FAQ

Straight answers from the team that grows, delivers, and installs privacy hedges across Florida every week. No jargon, no runaround.

Ordering, Delivery & Installation

Yes. We deliver and install Clusia, Podocarpus, and Areca Palm statewide β€” from Key West to Pensacola. We're based in Homestead and offer same-week service to cities including Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, Miami, and beyond.
We install them. This is one of the biggest differences between Oasis Landscape and a garden centre or Home Depot. Our crew delivers your plants and puts them in the ground at the correct spacing on the same visit. You get a finished hedge β€” not a pile of pots on your driveway waiting for a landscaper.
Our minimum order is $500 (plants only, delivery quoted separately). You can mix and match Clusia, Podocarpus, and Areca Palm in any gallon size to reach the minimum. The order builder on our shop page tracks your total and unlocks the WhatsApp quote button automatically at $500.
Select your plants and quantities in our shop. Once your order reaches $500, the quote button unlocks and sends your full order details directly to our WhatsApp at +1 (786) 562-1650. We respond same day with a delivery and installation cost for your location.
Delivery is $2 per mile from our Homestead nursery to your property. Message us on WhatsApp with your address and we'll include the exact delivery and installation cost in your quote.
Same-week delivery is available on most orders across Florida. Once you place your order on WhatsApp we confirm your delivery window and our crew arrives on the agreed date to deliver and install.
Yes. You can combine Clusia, Podocarpus, and Areca Palm in any gallon sizes within a single order. You can also add multiple sizes of the same plant β€” for example, 25-gallon and 7-gallon Clusia together. Everything counts toward the $500 minimum.
Our service is designed for serious landscape projects β€” not single-plant purchases. The $500 minimum reflects the cost of same-week delivery and professional installation. If you're just buying one or two plants to try, a local garden centre is probably a better fit. If you're building a hedge, we're the right call.

Choosing the Right Plant

Clusia is the stronger choice for South Florida β€” Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, and Miami. It thrives in full sun, salt air, and the warm winters typical of South Florida. Podocarpus is better suited to Central and North Florida where winters are cooler.
Yes. Podocarpus handles cooler Florida winters better than Clusia, making it the more reliable long-term hedge for Central and North Florida cities like Orlando and Jacksonville. It also tolerates partial shade better than Clusia, which makes it useful for hedge lines alongside buildings.
Clusia guttifera β€” often sold as Princess Clusia or Small-Leaf Clusia β€” is the standard hedge form. It grows tight and dense, holds a clean line, and is what we install on the vast majority of residential projects. Clusia rosea has larger, bolder leaves and a more dramatic look, but is harder to keep as a neat hedge. Unless you specifically want rosea as a feature plant, guttifera is almost always the right choice for a privacy hedge.
In good South Florida conditions Clusia gains roughly 1–2 feet per year vertically. Laterally it fills in faster β€” a 7-gallon hedge at correct spacing typically reads as a solid wall within 6–9 months. Larger starter sizes close in even faster; 15-gallon at tight spacing often looks finished from install day.
No β€” Clusia has one of the lightest leaf drops of any Florida privacy hedge. The leaves that do fall are large and easy to skim. It's one of the most popular choices for pool-adjacent hedges for exactly this reason.
Clusia has a non-invasive fibrous root system. It does not throw aggressive surface roots that lift pavers, and we've never had a Clusia installation damage an existing pool deck or buried pipe line. We plant with standard residential clearance of 18–24 inches off hardscape to keep both the hedge and the deck safe.
Yes β€” Clusia has strong tolerance for salt air, coastal wind, and sandy soil. It's the go-to hedge for beachfront and near-beach properties across South Florida. It handles the exposure that thins out most other hedge plants along the coast.
Home Depot sells plants. We sell finished hedges. The difference is installation β€” we deliver your plants and put them in the ground correctly, at the right spacing, on the same day. Home Depot leaves you with plants on a pallet and no idea what to do next. We also offer wholesale nursery pricing with no retail markup, and every plant is Florida-grown at our Homestead nursery β€” not generic stock from a warehouse.
